When You’ve Found the One…DJ, That Is

Whether you’ve already booked a DJ or still shopping around, I hope this blog will help you reaffirm your chosen DJ or provide some insight for what you should be looking for.Let’s start with how you found your DJ. Did a friend refer you to them or did you find them on a site (like Wedding Wire) with raving reviews?  If you are unable to find many reviews or recommendations for your chosen DJ, you might want to slow down on giving them a green light for your event.

Are they considerate?

When you meet with them, do they take your needs into consideration? This can manifest in a variety of ways, such as them asking you where you would like to meet, what kinds of songs you would like played, or what the DJ should wear. While this may not sound like a big deal, it provides huge insight on your DJ experience.

Our Famous team always makes sure that you are the top priority. Thus, we’ll always ask for a meeting location that is convenient to you. We will also provide you with a song request form so that we can make sure that our DJs will always play something that you’ll love to dance to.

What’s their vibe like?

Additionally, your DJ should make you feel good. I don’t mean that you necessarily need to get butterflies when you see them, but they definitely should have you feeling like you made the right decision. If you ever feel doubt or unsure about your DJ, talk to them about why you aren’t 100% on board with them.

If they shut you down or try to persuade you that everything is fine, think about hiring another DJ. Your DJ should never do this. It’s YOUR event and your DJ should enhance it by providing positive energy (and amazing music). This also brings us to our next question…

How well do they communicate with you?

DJs who avoid conversing with you is another big red flag. Like always, communication is key; our team is dedicated to making sure that your event is the best it can be, and that isn’t possible if there is no communication.

If they refuse to answer questions, you might as well turn around and find a new DJ. If they aren’t able to accommodate your curiosities, they might treat your event carelessly too. Make sure that they are open about their services, pricing, and skillset.

With us, you’re part of our team, our Famous fam, so we make sure to talk about everything that you could possibly need. We like to cover all the bases so that your event goes as smoothly as possible. This will hopefully result in a lot less stress for you.

Can they help with other services?

Since we’re in this together, we’ll even ask you if you need anything besides music at your events. We’re well connected and help point you to amazing event rental companies, florists, and other services. We can even provide sound, lighting, and a projector for you!

A DJ that can only help you with music needs might be a sign that they’re inexperienced and new to the event industry. Though this isn’t a completely negative thing, you might not want to set high expectations. A new DJ could be super talented but it’s important that they can also provide for all of your needs, especially if your venue would need speakers and other equipment for the music to be loud enough without sounding terrible.

Hopefully this blog is helpful when picking the right DJ for your event. If you need some extra help, feel free to reach out to us! You can tweet us or send us a DM on Instagram. Our handle is @famousdjagency for both. We’d love to answer any questions you may have!
